Static/Dynamic
Blue Smog is experienced at designing and implementing both static and dynamic web sites, and can help you decide on the best solution to meet your needs.
If the information on a site changes infrequently, or only a few pages are required, then a static site will probably meet your needs. 'Static' simply means that the content is coded in each page rather than drawn from a database. It doesn't mean that other technologies to enhance a site, such as animated graphics, rollover buttons and Flash animation, cannot be used. Static sites can be uploaded to any web server and do not require an advanced hosting option (see hosting packages).
Dynamic web sites are ideal if a page changes frequently or if there are many pages. Content is stored in a database and the page is built 'on the fly'. Dynamic sites are usually more costly to design and host but are cheaper to maintain and offer many advanced features such as events calendars, discussion forums, shopping carts, blogs (web logs) and administrative pages. This type of site needs a web server that supports databases and a scripting language (or, as many ISPs term it, 'full access to the CGI bin').
If you choose to host your site with us, our business standard hosting solutions support both types of site and offer reliability, fast download times and value for money.
